Q: Why do you dive?
A: At an early age I watched in awe as Jacques Cousteau brought his film work and exploration of the underwater world into our homes. I was fascinated and knew I’d forever pursue diving. My dad served in the U.S. Coast Guard, and I served in the U.S. Navy, so I was always surrounded by salt water and spent most of my free time in it, on it or under it. I enjoy experiencing new dive sites, and revisiting longtime favorite sites, and to film the dive trips to share with everyone.

Q: Why did you decide to instruct diving?
A: I love to explore the underwater world with others and see their reactions in discovering and experiencing so many adventures beneath the waves. I had some incredible instructors early in my career and I really appreciate how impactful a good instructor can be in introducing this whole new world in a safe and fun way while helping them to develop various skills to experience it to the fullest and to build confidence to expand their knowledge and abilities.

Q: Why Instruct at Dive Tech?
A: First and foremost, Dive Tech is like family.  I’ve known Edward for more than 25 years and really enjoy working with the staff and so many longtime customers.  In all that time, I’ve had so many great experiences on incredible trips and while training new divers at all experience levels.  The heated indoor pool and facility provide a unique opportunity to work with divers of all skill levels year-round.  The travel planning for trips is also very detailed and provides a truly first-class VIP experience!  Best in the industry!!

Q: Number one tip for future diver?
A: Once you complete your dive training, book a trip and get out there to explore an amazing reef and swim with marine life! Houston is just a couple of hours by air to some of the world’s best ocean diving: Cozumel, Bonaire, Grand Cayman and so many other warm-water locations.

Q: Your coolest dive trip and why.
A: There are so many to choose from, but Bonaire comes top of mind because of how easy the diving is there, and with some of the most beautiful reef structures and marine life I have ever experienced. The luxury resorts also provide so many amenities while topside before and after diving, so it’s a complete vacation experience for everyone, including any non-divers in the family. A close-second “coolest trip” would be shark diving in Nassau, Bahamas.
